Rotarian Paddy Mwesigye has been officially installed as the fourth president of the Rotary Club of Kabale City, succeeding Rtn Dr Robert Mugarura.
The colourful installation ceremony was held on June 20, 2026, at White Horse Inn in Makanga, Central Division, Kabale Municipality, and attracted a wide range of guests, including Emeritus Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi George Bagamuhunda, Kabale District Woman MP Enid Origumisiriza, Rotarians, Rotaractors, family members and friends.
Speaking shortly after taking office, Mwesigye pledged to prioritise initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of children and strengthening maternal health services within communities. He said investing in children's well-being and ensuring mothers have access to quality healthcare are essential for building healthier and more prosperous communities.
“In my leadership, I will focus on strengthening Rotary’s humanitarian efforts through partnerships, community outreach programmes and sustainable projects that directly impact populations,” Mwesigye said.
Among his key priorities is the completion of a new structure for Mukokye Health Centre II in Maziba Sub-county.
He said the project would facilitate the relocation of health services from the current dilapidated building before it poses further risks to lives and property.
Mwesigye also highlighted the persistent challenge of water scarcity in Mukokye and called on government leaders to support efforts aimed at providing a reliable source of clean and safe water for the community.
Representing the guest of honour, Prof Charles Kwesiga, the Executive Director of the Uganda Industrial Research Institute, Kabale District Woman MP Enid Origumisiriza commended Rotary for its continued support to communities, saying the organisation complements government efforts in delivering essential services.
“I want to applaud Mwesigye’s focus on children and maternal health. It is a sector that requires urgent attention and sustained investment throughout his term of office,” Origumisiriza said.
Chief guest Rtn Aggrey Kamukama challenged the new president to lead with professionalism and foster unity within the club.
He urged members to work closely with their new leader in advancing ideas and projects that benefit both Rotarians and the wider community.
Kamukama said strong leadership, teamwork and commitment to service would be crucial in enabling the club to expand its impact and effectively address community challenges during the new Rotary year.
